More than 75 growers and horticulture partners came together on Tuesday, September 23, at the Saint-Hyacinthe Conference Centre for the third ACT Summit in Quebec. This year’s theme, Perspectives and Opportunities for a Changing World. By Producers. For Producers., set the stage for a day of forward-looking discussions and knowledge sharing.

The program opened with a keynote from Sue Lewis, Vice President of Marketing & Events at the Canadian Produce Marketing Association, who highlighted fresh produce market trends across Canada. Additional presentations explored key issues shaping greenhouse production, including humidity control for consistent yields, lighting research focused on reducing heat input in tomato cultivation, and the use of AI to unlock greater value from greenhouse data.

A grower panel featuring four Quebec producers was another highlight of the half-day event. Panelists shared their perspectives on current challenges, as well as practical insights from their own operations.

The ACT Summit is organized by the Advancing Cultivation Technologies (ACT) group, a collaboration of four leading horticulture suppliers—Grodan, Signify (Philips LED Lighting), Priva, and Svensson. The initiative brings growers together for education and networking, with summits previously held in Leamington, Ontario, and Langley, British Columbia. This marked the third time the event returned to Quebec.

Looking ahead, the ACT group will continue its grower-focused programming with a webinar on November 5, Future-Ready Leafy Greens: Smarter Strategies for Airflow, Light & Irrigation. Register here.
